Japan 2016: Hokkaido
You probably already know this, but I'm Japanese and was born and raised there. Since my whole family lives there, my husband (who's Canadian and very fond of Japan) and I try to go visit them once a year or once every two year.
We just came back home from this year's visit, and we had a great time!
First, we took a little trip to the northern island, Hokkaido, with my parents, my sister and her husband!
Hokkaido is known for the beautiful nature and scenery. Because we visited there in November and started to get some snow, we did more urban sightseeing, rather than exploring the nature.
Beer museum and whisky distillery... any guesses who's idea they were?! While us ladies (me, my mom and sister) are not into drinking, the guys (my dad, my brother in law, and my hubby) all enjoyed them very much. I don't drink at all, but I still found them pretty interesting because those museum had lots of historical information too.
Hokkaido is also known for variety of great food, especially the seafood!
Every meal we had there was great. The sashimi we had at Izakaya was so fresh. Ramen shop that my dad picked was so good that their ramen became my husband’s one of his favourite ramen!
Otaru Canal
The weather in Hokkaido is pretty similar to its Canadian, it's less humid than the central Japan, no rainy season, and gets pretty cold in winter. Some parts of Hokkaido get way more snow than where I live in Canada. Hokkaido might just be the place we'd like to live, if we ever move to Japan :)
Sapporo Clock Tower (A national important property )
This was my first time traveling with my sister's husband (they got married in 2014). Since we live apart from each other, I didn't really know him all that well before. But after this trip, I feel like I got to know him so much better. He's a good guy and I'm happy for my sister.
The Former Hokkaido Government Office
Over all, Hokkaido trip was great! I'd love to go visit there again, maybe in warmer season and stay longer!
