Alice Print Dress

I love everything about Alice in Wonderland, especially the art work! Alice print fabric is pretty big in Japan, there're numerous variations of it with different style of drawing, colours, materials...

I've been wanting to sew an Alice themed dress and finally made one. I bought this fabric from Japan, and there're a few other Alice pint fabrics I've been eyeing.

Fabric: from Japan

Pattern: Simplicity 1873 Cynthia Rowley Collection

Pattern Alterations and Adjustments: Nothing major, some small adjustments such as the depth of neck opening, the length of shoulder, width of bodice, sway back adjustment. I've also added in-seam side pockets and gathered the skirt.

When it comes to Alice prints, I like delicate lines with classic feel (like the original drawing for the book), and a hint of darkness.

This one has some pop of colour, so it’s not too dark but has really delicate lines which I love.

Bunnies, cookies, hearts, Alice… I wish mushroom was also included in this print too! But still, this is one of my favourite Alice print I’ve found.

I have some fabric in my stash ready to be transformed into fit and flare dresses, so that's what I'm going to be sewing for the next while.

That being said, I'm sewing something for my hubby's halloween costume this week! It's really entertaining and can't wait to show it to you after the halloween is over! (No spoiler until then!)
