Squash-coloured Floral Top: McCall's M7324

Do you remember the Squash-coloured floral dress I made in March? I was originally going to make the dress with flared sleeves but ended up doing bishop sleeves which left me with more fabric.

Also, I somehow thought this fabric was 115 cm width even though it was clearly stated that it is 150cm width on the online store (I bought the fabric from Blackbird Fabrics.) So after making the dress, I had just under 1m left of it! Since I love it so much, I had to make something with it.

I looked at McCall's website and found a perfect pattern for it! It's M7324, loose-fitting flowy top.

I thought I'd have enough fabric at least for the sleeve-less short length version, but it turned out that I had just enough for versions A and B for the bodice and C for sleeves!

This pattern was a great match with the light weight drapey fabric! I really love the neck opening wit the band, it's a classy small opening but not uncomfortably tight.

I had never done a front band like this, so I took my time there but everything else was put together fairly quickly.

I like the high and low length too!

Both front and back are gathered into the neck band. The only thing I'm not really sure about this pattern is the shoulder width; it's pretty wide that it almost look like dropped shoulder. I'm not sure if that's how it's designed to look like or simply too wide for my shoulder width. Since the fabric I used is light and drapey it's not really a problem but if I use something more think or crisp like cotton, I think I need some kind of adjustment there.

I can't believe this top pattern only requires just under 1m (150cm width) of fabric! I'm sure I'll be making more of this in the future.

I finished making this last week and at the time, it was still too cold to wear a short sleeve top without a cardigan or a jacket.

Today it's 30℃ here! It's supposed to go down to an average temp in the couple of days, but every year May seems to be unpredictable, weather wise.

It could snow, it could get to 25-30℃... It feels like we don't have spring, just jump right into summer from winter. I know lots of women like warmer weather but I don't do well in the heat and neither my dog. Plus mosquitos can be pretty bad during the summer here which is not fun at all when I want to take my puppy to the field.

I'm already kind of looking forward to be fall, haha. Maybe I need to come up with some fun summery sewing and knitting projects to keep me excited about the warm weather!
