Liberty Ros Pisa Bow Bag

When you’re dressing up for a fancy occasion, I’m sure a lot of you would agree with me that accessories like bags and shoes play a big role—they can make or break your entire outfit.

That’s why I have such a hard time deciding on a bag every time I’m trying to decide what to wear for a wedding, for example.

There are a lot of party bags out there. They are pretty, but I find most of them too tiny! They can barely fit a smartphone and nothing else. I don’t need a large tote bag or anything, but I’d really like to carry my wallet, a smartphone, and a small pouch.

I often use my Scalloped Pearl Clutch for nicer occasions; this one isn’t huge yet it can carry most of my essentials. So I thought I would make a navy version of the same pattern to go with my Liberty Ros Dress, but then I remembered something.

I had saved this IG post above by @kateevadesigns previously (her blog: Kate Eva), thinking I’d make one sometime. How beautiful and adorable is this little bag?!

The pattern is available on Etsy: Pisa Bow Bag PDF Sewing Pattern by Kate Eva Designs

And look how cute it turned out!

I used the same navy fabric that I used for the lightweight jacket, this fabric has a slight sheen which is perfect for this bag! The lining is Liberty London Tana Lawn Ros, of course!

The construction is pretty simple and clear, the instruction was easy to follow. I thought that using an elastic for the opening was so clever! I love that feature.

Since Tana lawn is fairly thin, to sustain the shape of the bow, I added a lightweight interfacing to the bow pieces. I think it worked nicely!

This bag looks little, but can hold quite a lot!

The bottom of the bag is almost a square which gives more room than it looks.

Obviously this is not the most formal “white tie” dress code attire (I have no plans to be invited to such a formal event anyway), and probably a little too casual for a black tie event too (which I’ve never been to either.)

But this bag make this attire looks more special than a “everyday look” with a leather tote, don’t you think?

I absolutely loved carrying around this adorable bag! I can see myself making more in the future.
