Halloween Jarrah Sweater

Our adorable senior pup, Momiji

Anyone else gets excited about halloween but usually has no plans to dress up?

I like how fun halloween is, but I almost always work from home and I don’t usually go to drinking parties, so I don’t have the opportunity to dress up.

I’ve been wanting to make some kind of halloween themed “every day” clothes for a while.

And then, I found this fabric!

It’s from Katia and is called vampire bat sweatshirt fabric, I believe. This is just what I was looking for! The tiny mint coloured bats (vampire bats!) are so adorable.

Fabric: Vampire bat sweater knit by Katia / Navy ribbing from Blackbird Fabrics

I had a hard time choosing the right pattern for this project.

This sweatshirt was going to be my home clothes, so something boxy, loose fit, and comfortable was must.

I wanted a wider hem/sleeve rib bands.

Lastly, it was difficult to decide if I wanted raglan, set in, or drop shoulder sleeves.

After looking at many patterns, I decided on Jarrah from Megan Nielsen.

Jarrah is a loose fit drop shoulder sweatshirt pattern. It comes with four different styles of hems and two sleeve options (this was actually a big reason why chose Jarrah).

I normally prefer raglan to drop shoulder, but drop shoulder seems to be more trendy at the moment, so I gave it a try.

I love how wide those ribbings are!

Since it’s halloween themed sweater, I had to pose with a knitted pumpkin!

I probably could have shortened the sleeve length more, but over all, I’m pretty happy with this spooky sweater. This fabric has a soft fleece-like back, and it feels so cozy and warm!
