Grey Ponte Tote Bag
I had some left over ponte-knit fabric from making a jacket, so I made a tote bag with it!
I've been wanting to make simple tote bag like this, I thought it would be convenient for travels since it's light and doesn't take up too much space in a suitcase.
I didn’t use a pattern, I guess I could say that this is a self-drafted pattern, but it’s really simple.
(The zipper area looks like it’s stained or the colour isn't consistent, but it's just the lighting in this photo.)
I love purses/bags that have zipper closures! It’s secure and looks neat.
This zipper pull detail is my favourite part!
The interior fabric is grosgrain, another left over from making a dress. I’m kind of obsessed with this grey and mint blue colour combo!
There are two interior pockets: one is slip pocket, and another is a zipped one. Because of the grosgrain fabric’s texture and the thickness, I couldn’t sew the zipper pocket as neat as I wanted to, but of well, I’m the only person who looks at it and I can live with it!
This simple bottom reinforcement is also handy for fabric tote bags. It’s just a thick foam inside, but helps a lot to stabilize the bag.
I made this bow to add a little something. I'm planning to make more charms in the future with embroidery, needle felting etc, so I can switch it up!
I’m not sure if this bag seems big to you, but it’s just the right size for me to carry everything I need without being too big.
Over all, I’m really happy with how this turned out!
