Ebony T-Shirt
I can't believe it's already May! It's been a month since I last blogged, and while I was away (mostly because I wasn't inspired to take blog photos aka being lazy), I turned 31 years old on April 23. Another year older, (hopefully) a little wiser...
I spent a lovely birthday thanks to my husband, my family in Japan, friends and my family (in-law) here.
We had a cold and snowy winter that lasted a pretty long time, but in the last week or so, it's suddenly summer here! Just like I said before, we really don't have much of spring; it's either winter or summer, haha.
As some of you already know, I'm not a hot weather person. But even so, I have to admit the change of the season makes me a little excited because I get to work on totally different projects that are summery!
Before I get into full on summer garment sewing, I've been sewing some spring clothes. First up is Ebony T-shirt (pattern by trusty Closet Core Patterns)!
I've been living in my Coco dresses and I knew I wanted to make more of dresses/tops like Coco, so I was really excited to find out that Closet Core Patterns also makes a pattern that's similar but slightly different.
The main differences between Ebony and Coco are:
Ebony has a neck band while Coco doesn't
Ebony has more volume while Coco is simple A-line
Ebony comes with raglan sleeves option
I love Coco's elegant neckline but as a beginner jersey fabric sewer, I really want to expand my stretchy fabric sewing experiences. So I was happy to try a different type of a neck band.
I was a little worried about the volume of the bodice, but I like it!
I got a new sewing machine last fall and it came with a twin needle option, so for the first time, I tried twin needle finishing! It was more tricky than I expected but love the clean finish.
This pattern is now one of the go-to patterns for me!
