2020!

Hey friends! It’s the year 2020. If you’re a Friends fan, you know it’s the year Emma is going to turn 18 years old!

Do you have a new year’s resolution? I don’t usually have one. For me, it’s the best to have short-term goals and see where those goals take me in a long run. Of course, I do have long-term visions, but they’re just visions, not so much of clear specific goals.

It’s not really a resolution or a goal, but I do have some plans this year and moving forward.

I think I’m going to do a little sewing and knitting.

You might already know, but I bought a keyboard last November.

When I was young, I used to learn how to play the piano, flute, and trombone. Playing music instruments was a big part of my life back then. So I’ve been wanting to get back on playing piano for a while!

I always thought buying a piano would be too expensive, and we have no room to put one in our place. But one day I spotted keyboards at a store and realized that there are some really budget friendly keyboards out there!

I want to learn more classical pieces, so I knew I needed a keyboard with 88 keys (which is the full size, same as an acoustic piano.) I also found out (after a lot of researching, I like researching) that there are keyboards with keys that have similar weight to an acoustic piano. So it’s almost like a digital piano.

Mine didn’t come with a cover, so I made one!

It’s been a looong time since I stopped my piano lessons when I was a student. So I’m totally a beginner again, but it’s a lot of fun to play!

So that’s one reason why I’ve been sewing and knitting less, but there’s another reason.

I’m not a minimalist and have no intention to become one, but still, I’d like to have less stuff! Just looking at my fabric/yarn stash makes me feel a bit stressed. It’s really ok to have less things and I want to have less things—is what I’ve been feeling lately.

Both sewing and knitting can be an act of consuming. I’m not the most eco-friendly human being and I know that, and that’s exactly why I want to start thinking more about sustainability when/where I can.

Luckily I have new hobbies like piano and games that doesn’t require so much materials. Of course, I’m not going to become an extremist who doesn’t want to possess anything. I would still buy fabrics here and there and will write about my crafts here on the blog too. I just think this is a good opportunity for me to be more careful about buying and making things.

So you might see me less on my blog this year, but I’m still here.

Let’s make this year a happy one!
