Canadian Rockies -Yoho- 2016

A trip to Yoho National Park!

We've been to Banff and Jasper many times, but this was our first time going to Yoho National Park. Momiji (our pup) was excited too!

We stayed at Truffle Pigs Bistro & Lodge which is located in a small town in Yoho called Field.

We arrived at the lodge in the evening, so we checked in and cooked supper in the suite, and just did a quick walk around the lodge that day.

The second day was rainy but beautiful. That "Misty Mountains" song from Hobbit was in my head all day.

Because of the rain, we decided to go visit Lake Louise instead of somewhere new. I've seen Lake Louise covered with snow but I had never seen half frozen which was pretty cool.

For the dinner on the second day, we went to Truffle Pigs Bistro! We enjoyed our meal so much that we went back the next day.

Everything we had on both visits to the restaurant was amazing!

The third day was really sunny! We went to Emerald Lake which I was most excited about.

We did an Emerald Lake circuit walk.

It was such a beautiful walk! About the half of the trail was still covered with snow, so some parts were a bit challenging to walk through, but overall it was a very enjoyable walk.

After the Emerald Lake, we headed to Wapta Falls.

It's about 2.5km walk to the Falls from a parking lot (5km both ways).

It’s probably hard to tell from a photo, but it was pretty impressive in person!

We stopped by at the Natural Bridge too.

After dinner, we went back to Emerald Lake.

Sunset at Emerald Lake was so peaceful.

At the lodge by the lake, they were having a wedding rehearsal and they were playing the violin. It was so beautiful.

Later that night, we went for stargazing.

I always look forward to stargazing when we go to the mountains. It was so dark and I was a bit scared to go outside, so I set up a tripod in the car with a lens pointing out from a sunroof!

I got lucky with this shot, there're two shooting stars: one very visible on the top right, another one by the trees.

The bright lights around the trees are northern lights. When I released the shutter, the northern lights started light up the sky.

Stars more than you can count. There's a shooting star in this photo too, on the top middle.

On the last day of our stay, we stopped by Velvet Antler Pottery in Field.

They had the cutest dog named Ash. She's part some sort of mountain dog, part husky, and part wolf! Such a beautiful dog!

Their pottery shop was actually in the old house which was pretty cool. They got some interesting and pretty things... We decided to get mugs as souvenir!

And then we were on our way home.

We spotted wild sheep and goat.

I love this photo on the left, their expressions make me smile.

We loved Yoho National Park. I'm sure we'll go back before too long!
