Scout Tees

I’ve been wanting to find a perfect woven T-shirt pattern for a while.

I’ve purchased and made some before and they turned out fine but they weren’t my true love. The ones I tried before had bust darts and they’re more constructed. That’s nice too, especially if you were using thicker, and more stiff fabric.

But what I wanted was relaxed and casual T-shirt made with soft fabric that drapes a bit, preferably without any darts.

I recently found just the one!

It’s Scout Tee pattern from Grainline Studio. Scout Tee has capped sleeves which are very cute, but this time I used a traditional short sleeves from the sleeve variation pack that I purchased at the same time.

I used this watermelon print rayon, a left over from this watermelon print dress, as a wearable muslin.

I love how it turned out! It’s light, flowy, breezy, relaxed, everything you’d want from a T-shirt.

I didn’t realize this when I bought this pattern, but the back hem is slightly longer than the front! Which was a pleasant surprise for me (I love high and low hems.)

I admit that I’m pretty conservative when it comes to the neck opening preference… I don’t really prefer wide or deep neck opening for myself.

So for the second Scout Tee, I raised the neck opening by a few centimetres.

This turned out as exactly I wanted! It’s made from viscose twill in black.

The watermelon one is out of the season right now because of the summery print, but the sold black is wearable all year long! (Probably with layers during winter though.)

With sleeve variations, possibility is endless… petal sleeves, cuffed sleeves, and long sleeves! I’m sure I’ll be making many more. I’m curious to see how this pattern would work with fabric that is a bit more stiff too.
