Rifle Paper Rose Dress: MN Darling Ranges

This year’s MVP (most valuable pattern) would have to be the Darling Ranges from Megan Nielsen Patterns.

It was my favourite and most used pattern this spring and summer. Naturally, I wanted to make something for fall using the same pattern!

Pattern: Megan Nielsen’s Darling Ranges dress & blouse (The curve size which ranges from 14-30 is available too.)

Fabric: Garden Party Petite in Rose by Rifle Paper and Co. purchased from Elégante Virgule

I’ve blogged about this pattern before that there’s not much to say other than I love it so much!

For the pattern modification details, please see the Chasing Daisies Dress and Liberty Ros Dress posts.

This fabric is so beautiful! It’s the Rifle Paper Co. and Cotton + Steel collaboration fabric, featuring Rifle Paper’s iconic floral pattern. It’s a quilting weight cotton which is a bit heavier than cotton lawn.

I can wear this both for spring and fall but I’m calling it a “fall dress” for two reasons (other than the fact that I made it in September):

First I extended the sleeve length. They can be worn either folded or non-folded.

I find it easier to put on a jacket over longer sleeves (short sleeves bunch up inside the jacket sleeves), so I like my fall/winter dresses to have longer sleeve like these.

Second, the buttons are beautiful burgundy colour! I think burgundy is one of the ultimate autumn colours, wouldn’t you agree?

These are the hemp buttons I purchased from Core Fabrics. I’m very happy with these buttons, they look so much nicer than thin plastic ones.

It’s hard to see on a busy print, but there is the back tie too! I love this feature of the Darling Ranges.

By the way, I used a different lens to take these pictures and I really like the look of it!

I feel like maybe I should strop saying “I’m usually not a pink person…” soon. I’m still really picky about pink and it’s not something I’d pick first for many things (like I’d never choose pink electronic/tech products, furniture, decor). However, there are certain fabric I like even though they’re pink.

In this case, I really like that it has burgundy, green, and gold (beige) along with pink. It’s romantic but not in overly “girly” way. I also got the same print in blue (blue is my favourite colour) and it is so beautiful as well!

Here, I’m folding the sleeve ends up.

I’m pleased with this make!

I think this colour palette goes nicely with beige cardigan, shoes, bags; it’ll create a perfect autumn look!
