Navy Brown Floral Dress: Myosotis
Hi friends!
I can’t believe it’s been about a month since I last posted. Time is truly flying by.
The dress I’m posting today is made with the exact same pattern as the “Orange Leaf Dress: Myosotis“. (Both of the dresses I made last year.)
Pattern: Myosotis Dress by Deer and Doe
Fabric: Cotton lawn purchased from Blackbird Fabrics
Deer and Doe was originally a French-based indie pattern company. However, founders of the company recently announced that they have sold their business to Closet Core Patterns due to their health concerns and private things that made it difficult to run a business.
Closet Core is a Montreal (Canada) based company, and because of it they have several people in their team who are native French speakers as well as members from France. Which means that they will be able to continue to offer DD patterns in both English and French.
Deer and Doe will exist as its own brand within the Closet Core family; they said they will continue to offer existing DD patterns, as well as releasing new DD patterns in the coming year.
I know this was a sad news for the Deer and Doe fans, but I personally think they couldn’t have sold their business to a better new owner. I’m excited for their future!
For pattern alternations I did for Myosotis, please have a look at “Orange Leaf Dress: Myosotis“.
This pattern quickly became one of my favourites! I made a few last fall/winter, and am hoping to make one or two for spring/summer too.
I also love this fabric! The cotton lawn is made in Japan (I think you can purchase the same fabric in Japan too), and the colour combo is just perfect. For years I liked black/grey for neutral tones, but I’ve been gravitating towards browns lately.
The floral print itself is somewhat childlike, but because the scale of the print is small and that the colours are subdued, it’s very easy to wear for grown ups.
The top bodice is lined with cotton lawn, and the skirt is lined with cupro.
I’m very happy that this past fall/winter, I was able to make a few dresses that are comfortable and easy to wear, with the design I love! This dress is definitely one of them.
